Radboud University is a public research university located in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
Radboud’s work with BIG Lab
So far, Radboud has three articles in different stages of development:
1. A paper on the concept of ‘Good life’ and the effects of border changes. This paper was prepared in collaboration with a research assistant (Chao Jiang) and is based on his MA thesis written for his MA degree in Human Geography. This thesis is currently under review by the JPS.
2. A paper on border perceptions (before,) during and after the Corona crisis, tentatively titled “Border Perceptions and Leisure Mobilities before, during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic: Investigating Social Resilience in the Dutch-German Border Region”. It is planned that this article will become part of a special issue in the JPS (edited by Dallen Timothy) on borders and tourism. This issue is planned for mid-2024. It is being prepared together with Bas Spierings from Utrecht University) and a third-year BA student in Cultural Anthropology (as part of an internship). We are currently in the data collection phase.
3. A paper on synergistic border spaces. This paper is also developed together with the aforementioned research assistant (Chao Jiang). The paper is still in its early stages.
Furthermore, preparations have started for the planning and development of a workshop to be held in or near Nijmegen. This workshop will take the form of a policy forum and the core concept/theme will be synergetic border regions. Radboud will bring together policymakers/practitioners and academics to establish a dialogue on strengthening border regional development beyond the current state of integration, especially, but not exclusively, in the European Union.
