Irasema Coronado

Irasema Coronado is the director and professor at the School of Transborder Studies at Arizona State University. She holds a B.A. in political science, an M.A. in Latin American Studies, and a Ph.D. in Political Science. Her research focuses on human rights along the U.S.-Mexico border. Coronado has co-authored and co-edited several books, including Fronteras No Mas and Juntos Pero No Revueltos, Children Crossing Borders: Latin American Migrant Childhoods.  She has held various academic and administrative roles, including professor and associate dean and associate provost at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Coronado has served on several boards and committees, such as the Environmental Protection Agency’s Good Neighbor Environmental Board, Feminist Majority Board, and The United States-Mexico Foundation for Science (FUMEC).   Her research includes topics on deportation, environmental cooperation, and U.S.-Mexico border politics. In 2010, she was named one of the Top 100 Influential Hispanics by Hispanic Business Magazine.
