Andrzej Jakubowski is a Cross Border Research Fellow with the Borders in Globalization (BIG) Programme at the University of Victoria and at the Border Policy Research Institute (BPRI) at the Western Washington University and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social and Economic Geography of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. His research focuses on economic, social and institutional distances in European borderlands, the development of cross-border functional areas and the digital shift in cross-border economic linkages/flows. He teaches border studies, regional development and place-based policies. He is involved in the preparation of evidence-based policies working as an expert in the field of cross-border cooperation (i.e. Committee for Spatial Management and Regional Planning of Polish Academy of Sciences; Analytical Group for Multidisciplinary Territorial Analyses).
