Borders in Globalization is co-sponsoring the 15th annual international conference hosted by BIG scholar, Tony Payan, and his colleagues at our partner institute the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ). The conference will present research and analysis from the last 20 years of work on regional integration, borders and globalization in the Americas. This research seeks to develop new mechanisms for interdisciplinary collective and comparative work. The focus of this year's conference is the concept of borders and its economic, political, social, psychological, cultural, legal and territorial manifestations; and to question the very existence of borders in a globalized world, from a democratizing perspective. Several of our Borders in Globalization colleagues will be present at the conference, including Dr. Harlan Koff, Luxembourg University, who will deliver a keynote on the Quality of Democracy and the Governance of Cross-border Flows: Redirecting Globalization to Serve Cross-Border Communities.
