El Instituto de Ecología (INECOL), Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico
Thursday, April 16, 2015 (All day) to Friday, April 17, 2015 (All day)

BIG Co-Applicant, Dr. Harlan Koff, with support of BIG Director Dr. Emmanuel Brunet-Jailly and Carmen Maganda - in addition to several other colleagues - hosted an international conference in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, comparing border security in Mexico and Colombia.

The Revista de Paz y Conflictos has published a special issue deriving from our BIG seminar in Xalapa. Carmen Maganda (INECOL) and Gilberto Conde (COLMEX) acted as co-editors of the special issue.

"This special issue derives from a workshop that was organized by the Instituto de Ecología (INECOL) and the Centro de Investigación y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS) in Xalapa, Mexico in 2014 as part of the Borders in Globalization (BIG) project that is headquartered in the University of Victoria, Canada and sponsored by the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the activities of the Consortium for Comparative Research on Regional Integration and Social Cohesion (RISC). For operational and editorial reasons, this issue of Revista de Paz y Conflictos of the Universidad de Granada includes three articles and the following four will appear in the next issue."
